Job summary

Job description

What We Are Looking For

The E&C technician is responsible for electrical maintenance and new construction at all company facilities. The technician should be familiar with NEC standards for wiring and company specific standards for calibration and maintenance of all instrumentation at company facilities. The technician will also be responsible for installation and maintenance of all company communications equipment. The technician in this position will occasionally be called out by the company control center when there are problems with instrumentation or electrical equipment.

What You Will Do
  • Understand accepted troubleshooting guidelines for PLC, control valves and all PLC logic.
  • Possess overall knowledge of the installation, operation, repair, of assigned equipment.
  • Maintain sufficient inventory of electrical supplies and repair parts to meet most emergency situations.
  • Take care of company vehicle, keeping it clean and organized.
  • Report any unsafe practices or actions to supervisor.
  • Continually look for better and more efficient ways of doing job.
  • Keep lines of communication open to supervisor and other company employees while meeting the needs of all customers.
  • Make callouts on equipment.
  • Work with project managers, engineers and contractors on all new construction projects.
  • Maintain all controls, monitor alarms and sensor tests.
  • Troubleshoot and schedule electrical maintenance for the assigned location.
  • Assist PLC programming personnel.
  • Supervise electrical contractors.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of compressor stations, gathering systems, and processing plant operations.
  • Journeyman electrician.
Required Qualifications:
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Customer orientation.
  • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situation to other employees of the company and outside contractors.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals).
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues.
  • Ability to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions.
  • Understanding of electrical motor control.
  • Knowledge of electrical prints and capable of making appropriate red-line changes to them.
  • Understanding of PLC cause and effect.
  • Valid state operating license and acceptable driving record as determined by the Company.
Working Conditions:
  • Uses physical force to lift, push, pull and hold equipment/tools.
  • Climbs and works at various heights. May work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position.
  • Routinely reacts to visual, aural and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work.
  • Regularly bends, stoops, moves from ground level to higher levels, raises/lifts from ground level a load up to 50 lbs., manually transports a load up to 75 lbs., and applies up to 150 pounds of torque.
  • Regularly gets into and out of vehicles and rides over rough roads.
  • Walks an average of 5 miles per day, up to 7 miles per day.
  • Candidates may be subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) drug and alcohol testing requirements.
  • Subject to overtime and callouts.Works mostly outdoors, in and around mechanical, industrial and electrical equipment.
  • Required to climb equipment and work in confined areas (i.e., tanks, between compressors, vessels).
  • May be subject to work in hazardous conditions including hydrocarbon vapor, adverse weather conditions, and extreme temperatures.
  • Wears safety equipment as required.
