Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignment.
• Knowledge of reading, writing, and spelling instructional strategies.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting process and implementation.
• Ability to assess students for dyslexia.
• Ability to adapt curriculum and instruction for special needs.
• Ability to analyze, interpret, and use student data.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop an IEP through the ARD process for each student assigned.
• Implement instructional or therapeutic programs with accommodations as needed.
• Plan and use diverse instructional strategies and materials.
• Present subject matter and employ varied instructional techniques to meet individual needs.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify regular curricula for dyslexia per IEP/504 requirements.
• Participate in ARD and 504 planning meetings and in staff committees.
