Job summary

Avient Corporation is seeking a research-focused engineer/scientist to lead applied and fundamental projects around Dyneema® materials. You’ll join a team driving from ideation to scale-up, while solving production challenges in a hands-on setting at our Greenville facility.

The role emphasizes strong communication, collaboration, and a data-driven mindset, with opportunities to contribute to IP and patents while staying compliant with regulatory expectations.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD preferred in engineering or materials science, preferably with textile or yarn manufacturing expertise or related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree with more than 5 years of relevant experience or proven ability to work on an academic level.
• Ideally 3-10 years of experience in an academic or industrial environment with impactful contributions.
• Demonstrated drive to translate scientific knowledge into practical applications.
• Excellent communication and social skills with strong analytical and conceptual abilities.
• Team player in a dynamic environment, data-driven mindset with knowledge of statistics.

Responsibilities

• Proposal and execution of projects including investments.
• Planning and execution of trials.
• Contacts with possible suppliers for critical raw materials and new equipment.
• Initiate new patents.
