Job summary

Darwin Recruitment in Los Angeles is seeking a Flight Dynamics Engineer to lead integration, simulation, testing and real-time operations of flight dynamics systems for a spacecraft manufacturing company. You will manage ADCS, propulsion interfaces and hardware GNC components, developing high fidelity models and tuning control laws.

This is an on-site, full-time role requiring 5+ years in flight dynamics, proficiency with STK and Python/C++/MATLAB, and a degree in aerospace engineering.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in spacecraft flight dynamics, including attitude control and propulsion systems
• Proficiency with mission design software and flight dynamics simulation tools
• Proficiency programming in Python, C++ or MATLAB for flight dynamics modelling and flight software integration
• Experience in cleanroom environments, following ESD protocols
• Bachelor’s or advanced degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering or a related field
• Mentored junior engineers and improved engineering processes
• Strong problem solving and attention to detail
• US citizenship, with a Top Secret clearance or eligibility to obtain one
• Able to work onsite in Los Angeles full time

Responsibilities

• Develop and tune control laws for pointing requirements, detumbling and station keeping
• Work with the AI&T and avionics teams so flight dynamics hardware is integrated and calibrated correctly within the spacecraft bus
• Move from design and simulation into on console operations, handling flight dynamics anomalies and manoeuvres
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
• Document design processes, test results and system performance

This is a spacecraft manufacturing company in Los Angeles. They build satellites and support them through launch and on orbit operations.

This role leads the integration, simulation, testing and real time operations of flight dynamics systems. It spans attitude control, guidance, navigation, simulation, hardware integration, troubleshooting and live flight operations, so you carry the work from design through to on console.

What you will do
