Job Description

Bell is seeking a multi-disciplinary engineer capable of performing analytical design support in structural dynamics, flight test analysis, and flight test coordination for the V-22 tiltrotor aircraft development, improvement, and support efforts.

The candidate will be part of the V-22 Flight Technology and Test IPT, working in a collaborative team environment to support analytical predictions in areas such as airframe vibration, rotary wing dynamics, aeroelasticity, and aeromechanical stability.

Responsibilities include coordination, analysis, and participation in data reviews from applicable requests for tests (RFT). The role serves as the primary point of contact for structural analysis and flight test coordination between Bell Fort Worth, the MV-22 Test Team in Pax River, Maryland, NAVAIR, and Boeing in Philadelphia. The position is based at Bell's headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas.

Position Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update the NASTRAN Finite Element Model of the V-22.
  • Conduct aeromechanical stability analysis using multi-body dynamics, modal analysis, and state-space models.
  • Participate in vibration control analysis and reduction efforts.
  • Support analysis, design, and testing of advanced rotorcraft configurations.
  • Document analytical predictions in formal reports for customer deliverables.
  • Continuously improve analytical methods and processes throughout the aircraft's lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with team members, design & analysis engineers, and NAVAIR.
  • Support flight test activities, including data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Manage the Request for Test database and provide status updates during test meetings.
  • Analyze test results related to airframe, rotor, drive system, and fatigue parameters.
  • Manage flight test configuration changes and instrumentation design requirements.
  • Maintain a repository of flight test plans and participate in planning and readiness reviews.
  • Prepare data packages, perform data trending, and address data anomalies.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; Master’s preferred.
Position Requirements
  • Minimum 2+ years of FEA experience, with responsibility for dynamic analysis.
  • Familiarity with NASTRAN and PATRAN required.
  • Ability to master flight test software for data collection and analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work overtime and travel as needed (up to 5%).
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, especially for linear analysis.
  • Experience with flight test, particularly with US Navy helicopters.
  • Understanding of flight test instrumentation and data acquisition systems.
