Qualifications

• Master's degree and NYS English Language Arts certification (7-12) or equivalent.
• Prior experience teaching high school English is strongly preferred.
• Expertise in literature, composition, grammar, vocabulary development, and research instruction.
• Experience teaching World Literature or British Literature is preferred.
• Ability to develop engaging lesson plans using instructional technology and project-based learning.

Responsibilities

• Teach Grade 9 World Literature and Grade 10 British Literature as assigned.
• Deliver instruction across literary genres including novels, poetry, drama, and essays.
• Guide students in analytical writing, argumentative and creative writing.
• Facilitate Socratic seminars, group work, and project-based learning.
• Incorporate grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and research skills.
• Prepare students for college readiness with formal research writing and MLA citation.
• Utilize technology and digital tools to enhance learning.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learners' needs.
• Assess student progress with formative and summative assessments and provide feedback.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment and professional collaboration with colleagues.
• Communicate progress with students, parents, counselors, and administrators.
• Moderate a club or coach a sport as a plus.
