Job summary

KVAL/KMTR in Oregon is seeking a Meteorologist to anchor the weather on-air and online, maintaining a digital and social media presence while delivering accurate forecasts throughout our newscasts.

Responsibilities include field reporting, producing weather packages, and presenting clear, engaging weather stories across TV and digital platforms, collaborating with producers and the digital team to connect with viewers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• Experience as weather anchor/meteorologist at professional news station
• Understanding of journalistic ethics

Responsibilities

• Forecasting, Producing and Presenting clear and concise weather casts, which tell a story and connect with viewers
• Issue warnings and alerts, produce graphics and maps, and report live during weather events
• Utilize social media as well as write weather stories
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station
• Work with producers to determine relevant weather content in breaking and everyday situations
• Work with digital team to create engaging content for the website, YouTube and social media
• Produce semi-regular weather packages
