Job summary

Richland County School District One is seeking a dynamic Supplemental Athletic Coach at Keenan High School to support student-athletes across sports programs. You will assist in practice planning, provide individual coaching, and help create an inclusive, positive team environment.

This role emphasizes development, teamwork, and personal growth for student-athletes. Responsibilities include helping with game-day preparation, tracking progress, mentoring players, and communicating with parents.

Qualifications

• Previous coaching experience in the relevant sport (1-3 years preferred).
• Knowledge of sport-specific techniques, rules, and strategies.
• Ability to communicate effectively with athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team environment.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Management, or a related field is a plus).
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach with planning and implementing daily practice sessions, drills, and team strategies.
• Provide individualized coaching and support to athletes to help improve their technical skills, athletic performance, and teamwork.
• Foster a positive and motivating atmosphere that encourages the growth and development of all student-athletes.
• Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to improve skills, strength, and conditioning.
• Support the organization and management of game-day operations, including warm-ups, player preparation, and team logistics.
• Collaborate with coaching staff to set team goals and help track progress toward those goals.
• Assist in the monitoring of athlete eligibility, attendance, and participation requirements.
• Ensure that all practices and events comply with relevant regulations, rules, and school policies.
• Help maintain and organize athletic equipment and ensure the safety of all participants during training and events.
• Serve as a mentor and role model, promoting sportsmanship, leadership, and respect for others.
• Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding athlete progress and team matters.
• Contribute to the recruitment of new athletes and support the retention of current team members.
