Job summary

The YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is hiring a Summer Day Camp Counselor for the Shallotte, NC location. You will supervise a group of children and deliver a fun, safe and values-driven camp experience aligned with the YMCA core values.

This seasonal, part-time role offers 20–40 hours per week depending on availability, with wage range $13.72–$15.12 per hour based on experience. CPR/First Aid/AED and child abuse prevention training are required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values and follows outlined daily schedule.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
• Sets a good example in promptness, manners, language, appearance, and health and sets a good example in respect and care for buildings, grounds, and nature.
