Qualifications

• Ability to communicate (verbal and written) and instruct.
• Knowledge of subject areas and curriculum guidelines.
• Follow oral and written directions and work with staff and students.
• Maintain effective classroom management as required.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in locations and times designated.
• Follow the daily lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher or designee.
• Manage allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
• Present subject matter according to TEA guidelines and district policies.
• Evaluate and provide feedback on student progress during instruction.
• Present for students a positive role model that supports the district's mission.
• Promote the school positively within the school and community.
• Communicate information accurately to colleagues, students, parents and community.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity.
• Demonstrate flexibility to changes in a regular school day.
• Follow the substitute classroom discipline plan and maintain order.
• Protect confidentiality of students
• Maintain professional relationships with staff, students, parents
• Encourage students to set and maintain classroom behavior standards
• Take precautions to protect equipment, materials and facilities
• Provide a safe environment for students
• Report any injuries or disruptions promptly
• Document lessons and activities for regular teacher review
• Dismiss students according to procedures
• Follow substitute arrival/dismissal protocols
• Comply with district/school policies and model non-discriminatory practices
• Perform other duties as assigned by building administrator
