Job summary

Chesterbrook Academy is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide reliable classroom support across multiple classrooms, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment in the absence of a regularly assigned teacher. You will follow established lesson plans and adapt to various grade levels and schedules.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field, with experience working with school-aged students.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
• Experience with school-aged students preferred.
• Knowledge of student development, classroom management, and age-appropriate learning practices.
• Flexibility and confidence working with different grade levels, classrooms, and daily schedules.
• A patient, nurturing, and responsive approach to education.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and families.
• Reliability, collaboration, and a commitment to providing high-quality care and education.
• Ability to successfully pass state and federal background checks.
• Compliance with all applicable state education standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement established lesson plans and age-appropriate learning activities.
• Facilitate classroom instruction, discussions, individual assignments, group work, and hands-on learning.
• Support students’ academic and social-emotional development.
• Adapt to different classrooms, grade levels, schedules, and instructional needs.
• Maintain classroom routines and smooth transitions between activities.
• Provide attentive supervision during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and transitions.
• Assist students with classroom tasks and daily routines as needed.
• Respond to students’ physical and emotional needs.
