Job summary

Aurora Public Schools in Aurora, Nebraska is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide instructional continuity across our PK-12 district of approximately 1,250 students. Substitutes deliver lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and help maintain a safe, productive learning environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma (Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred) and valid Nebraska educator certification.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid Nebraska Department of Education Educator Certification (examples: Initial/Standard Teaching Certificate, Local Substitute Certificate, State Substitute Certificate, Administrative Certificate).

Responsibilities

• Follow the classroom teacher's lesson plans and daily schedule as closely as possible.
• Take attendance and follow all classroom and building procedures.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, recess, and other areas as needed.
• Communicate significant events, concerns, or incidents to the building principal or office staff.
• Leave the classroom in good order and provide notes on the day's activities to the regular teacher.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal.
