Job summary

PLATTSMOUTH COMMUNITY SCHOOLS in Nebraska is seeking motivated substitute teachers who can motivate students of all ability levels. You will follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher and meet classes as scheduled, while maintaining order and a safe, conducive learning environment.

The role requires NDE Certification and a commitment to student success, with collaboration among staff and administration to support district goals.

Qualifications

• NDE Certification is required to work as a substitute teacher.
• Experience in a classroom setting is preferred.
• Commitment to student learning and safety.

Responsibilities

• Follow the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom you are substituting, in accordance with the District philosophy, goals, and objectives.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Establish and maintain order in the classroom.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment, and facilities.
• Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board Policies.
• Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with students, their families, and District personnel.
• Report to the principal or his/her designee at the beginning and end of the school day.
• Other duties as assigned by administration.

Description: The substitute teacher is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the teacher for whom he/she is substituting and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in laws and policies.
