Job summary

River Parishes Community College seeks a Full-Time Speech Communication Instructor for a 9-month appointment. The position requires a Master’s degree in communication or related field, a strong background check, and readiness to teach across campus locations in Gonzales, Reserve, Plaquemine, and St.

Charles. Starting salary is $42,000 with potential increases based on experience and education; RPCC offers comprehensive health, life, dental, and vision insurance, retirement options, and tuition

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in communication/speech or Master’s degree in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in communication/speech. Official transcripts required.
• Background check required prior to employment.
• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Proficiency with classroom technologies (podium computer, laptop, iPad, SMARTBoard) and Canvas LMS.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

• Teach and present instructional content according to the College’s mission.
• Adhere to class schedules and office hours.
• Attend sessions and ensure full-class instruction.
• Create an equitable learning environment and communicate expectations clearly.
• Develop course outlines and grading standards within the first week.
• Utilize diverse teaching methods and ensure up-to-date content.
• Maintain attendance and progress records in approved systems.
• Support student advising, recruitment, and college committees.
