Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified by the State of Alabama in the appropriate area.
• Must meet highly qualified status as determined by Alabama State Department of Education.
• Must meet background clearance requirements as specified by Alabama statutes and State Board of Education regulations.

Responsibilities

• Understand and uphold school rules, regulations, and Board policies.
• Participate in efficient operation of the school and system, including meetings and committees.
• Avoid conflicts with other employment that interfere with duties.
• Follow ethical standards for teachers as per Code of Ethics.
• Follow courses of study approved by the State Board of Education and district curriculum guides.
• Foster student attitudes through teaching values of citizenship, self-discipline, morality, and patriotism.
• Meet and instruct assigned classes as scheduled.
• Maintain a conducive classroom environment within available resources.
• Maintain appropriate classroom discipline and assist in maintaining school discipline.
• Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation when requested.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Evaluate student progress according to established procedures.
• Seek assistance from specialists when needed and refer appropriately.
• Protect students and school property; safeguard equipment and facilities.
• Be available for education-related conferences outside instructional hours.
• Work with staff on planning school activities and instructional goals.
• Assist in selecting books and instructional materials.
• Participate in extracurricular activities as agreed.
• Attend and participate in faculty meetings.
• Maintain professional relationships with parents and community.
• Promote good public relations for school and system.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal.
• Assume other job-related duties as assigned by the Director.
