Responsibilities

• Planning and using well defined learner objectives aligned to state and parish curriculum.
• Plan activities to ensure time is used effectively to develop objectives.
• Identify and plan for individual differences and suitable learning materials.
• State methods of evaluation to measure learner outcomes.
• Develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) when appropriate.
• Develop/record lesson plans aligned to standards and content areas.
• Provide a safe learning environment and organize space, materials, and equipment.
• Maximize instructional time through routines, transitions, and attendance tracking.
• Manage learner behavior and establish expectations for classroom conduct.
• Deliver instruction using varied materials and adjust lessons as needed.
• Present content at developmentally appropriate levels with relevant examples.
• Engage students and promote higher-order thinking and participation.
• Assess progress using appropriate techniques and provide timely feedback.
• Collaborate with instructional staff, parents, and community resources to improve outcomes.
• Supervise paraprofessionals and participate in IEP meetings and progress notes.
