Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools seeks a permanent substitute for a secondary school, with potential rotations to other sites within the division. You will report daily, adapt lessons on short notice, and deliver instruction aligned to state standards while managing classroom behavior.

The role requires a Bachelor's Degree and Virginia teaching license eligibility for a secondary endorsement. A valid driver's license is also required or preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required; Virginia license with secondary endorsement preferred.
• Eligibility for Virginia teaching license in a 6–12 content area required or preferred.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Improvise lessons in emergencies where detailed lesson plans are unavailable.
• Plans, prepares and delivers curriculum content to students.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all activities.
• Uses the district curriculum to plan daily instructional activities.
• Delivers intervention services based on goals established by CCPS and Virginia.
• Keeps current with best practices in instruction, assessment and behavior management.
• Assesses student learning with multiple tools and differentiates instruction.
• Creates a positive classroom climate and collaborates with faculty.
• Communicates with parents, administration and staff as needed.
• Models appropriate use of technology to support instruction.
