Job summary

Van Dyke Public Schools is seeking a passionate Secondary Music Teacher to join our district’s educational team. This full-time position requires a strong background in music education and a commitment to fostering a love of music in students in grades 9–12.

The successful candidate will develop engaging curricula, direct ensembles, prepare performances, assess student progress, and collaborate with staff. A Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and valid secondary music teaching certification

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field is required.
Secondary teaching certification in music is required.
Proven experience teaching music at the secondary level.
Proficiency on one or more instruments and/or vocal performance.
Strong communication and organizational skills; ability to motivate students.
Experience directing ensembles and organizing performances.
Knowledge of music technology/software for education.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement music curriculum for grades 9–12 across genres and theory.
Conduct individual and group lessons in instrumental and vocal music.
Organize and lead rehearsals for choirs, bands, and orchestras.
Prepare students for performances, competitions, and festivals.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
