Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned.
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned.
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans reflecting district curriculum and accommodations.
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials per TEA guidelines.
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan activities.
• Modify curricula for special education students according to IEPs.
• Plan with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and supervise completion.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement.
• Sponsor extracurricular activities as assigned.
• Be a positive role model and support district mission.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and manage student behavior.
• Protect students and property; assist in selecting books and materials.
• Maintain reports, records, and other required documents.
• Establish professional relationships with parents and community members.
• Participate in staff development and comply with regulations.
• Attend faculty meetings and serve on committees.
