Job summary

Independence School District is seeking an Occupational Therapist to lead evaluation, planning and delivery of school-based therapy for students with OT needs.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, MO OT license, and NBCOT eligibility. Travel district-wide with a valid driver’s license; expected to lift up to 25 pounds and support IEP goals through individualized programming.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree or higher in Occupational Therapy from an AOTA-accredited program.
  • NBCOT board certification or eligibility.
  • Current Missouri OT license required.
  • Two years of pediatric or school OT experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and daily access to a vehicle for district travel.
  • Able to lift up to 25 pounds and transfer/position students during therapy.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other disciplines to ensure team understanding of student occupational performance strengths and needs; evaluation, educational planning, and service delivery.
  • Evaluates student ability and develops occupational profiles using functional assessments, observations and interviews.
  • Synthesizes evaluation results into written reports to guide program development and intervention.
  • Develops intervention plans based on student needs and evaluation results.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review results and develop IEP and intervention plans.
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapy to facilitate student participation and performance at school.
  • Consults with school-based team to achieve student outcomes.
  • Monitors and reassesses intervention effects to determine continuation or modification.
  • Maintains records and manages equipment inventory for budget planning.
  • Adheres to state and federal laws and district policies governing OT practice.
