Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a Respiratory Therapist, Registered (RRT) to join the Mary and Elizabeth - UMC team in Louisville, KY. The role requires licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (KBRC) and NBRC RRT certification, with ACLS and BLS credentials expected. One year of critical care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care from an accredited program is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care is preferred.
• Active license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (KBRC) is required.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) required; new grads have 6 months to obtain RRT.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is required.
• American Heart Association ACLS is required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and administers non-medicated aerosol and humidity therapy.
• Plans and administers oxygen therapy and implements related protocols.
• Plans and administers aerosolized medication and specialty gas therapy.
• Performs airway management.
• Plans and administers incentive spirometry.
• Cleans and reprocesses respiratory therapy equipment.
• Bronchial hygiene and chest physiotherapy per protocol.
• Performs CPR and assists in rapid response and ventilator management per orders.
• Provides education to patients, families, staff and physicians.
• Collects arterial blood samples for blood gas analysis.
• Operates ventilators and manages settings and weaning per provider orders.
• Assists in cardiopulmonary procedures.

Education

Associate degree in Cardiopulmonary Services or Respiratory Care
