Job summary

The Wall Street Journal in New York is seeking a photo editor to join the Business News and Features teams. You will drive visual coverage for desks, assign photography, and produce shoots in WSJ’s in-house studio as well as on location.

The ideal candidate has at least three years editorial photo editing experience, strong editorial judgment, and a thorough understanding of publishing systems, Photoshop, PhotoMechanic and social media tools.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of editorial photo editing experience.
• Strong editorial judgment and journalistic integrity.
• Ability to work quickly under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Experience collaborating across teams and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Assign photography and run shoots including in-house studio or on location.
• Produce photo coverage for breaking, daily, and feature stories across platforms.
• Edit photo builds in publishing system and surface work strategically across platforms.
• Brief photographers and manage releases, budgets, and travel as needed.
• Promote diversity of photographers and subjects to expand audiences.
