Job summary

The Stephens Family YMCA is seeking a Personal Trainer to instruct, motivate, and coach members in personalized fitness plans in a safe, supportive environment. You will conduct sessions for individuals and groups, log progress, and promote training services while upholding YMCA policies and member wellness.

Ideal candidates have current CPR/AED, a recognized trainer certification, and the ability to teach diverse clients.

Qualifications

• CPR and AED training as required, with emergency procedures knowledge.
• Basic exercise physiology knowledge and safe use of cardio/strength equipment.
• High school diploma and a recognized personal trainer certification, or a 4-year degree with certification due within 3 months.
• Nationally recognized certifications (ACE, Cooper Institute, NCSA, AFAA, ACSM).
• Ability to teach individuals and groups effectively.
• Supports YMCA mission and values.

Responsibilities

• Interact with every member using fitness facilities.
• Know members by name and greet unfamiliar faces to foster community.
• Log sessions and keep paperwork up to date.
• Communicate member needs to Wellness Director.
• Conduct personal training sessions for individuals and groups.
• Promote training services to members.
• Report equipment or facility concerns to Wellness Director.
• Arrive ready at scheduled times and communicate with clients.
• Maintain a positive team environment with staff and patrons.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
