Job summary

OrthoNebraska is seeking a Surgical First Assist to support orthopedic surgeries. You will assist surgeons during procedures, maintain sterile technique, and ensure all instruments and equipment are ready for use.

The role includes patient care before, during, and after operations, with a focus on safety and teamwork. Qualified applicants will have an accredited Surgical First Assist program, CSFA or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years in a surgical setting; BLS is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Surgical First Assist program.
• 2+ years of experience in a surgical setting, preferably orthopedics.
• CSFA or equivalent certification required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operative procedures.
• Ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are available and functioning.
• Maintain sterile technique throughout surgery.
• Provide patient care before, during, and after surgery.
• Monitor vital signs and respond to team requests.
• Educate patients and families about procedures and care.
