Job summary

Hastings Public Schools in Minnesota is seeking an Orchestra Teacher Long-Term Substitute to provide high-quality instrumental music instruction at Hastings Middle School and Hastings High School. The role includes full-ensemble and sectional teaching, developing technique, music literacy, rehearsal leadership, and collaboration with district staff to maintain continuity of the orchestra program.

The position is 1.0 FTE with a 0.8/0.2 split between campuses; assignments and compensation follow

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom instruction in orchestra and instrumental music at Hastings Middle School and Hastings High School.
• Provide full-ensemble instruction, sectional instruction, individual support, and small-group lessons as appropriate.
• Develop and deliver instruction aligned with district curriculum and Minnesota arts standards.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with curricular goals.
• Provide instruction in string instrument technique, tone production, intonation, rhythm, music literacy, sight-reading, theory, ensemble skills, and performance skills.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support the Hastings Public Schools orchestra program.
