Southern Avenue Charter School is seeking dependable Non-Certified Substitute Classroom Teachers to maintain student learning in the absence of regular teachers. This on-call role suits individuals who enjoy working with children and can manage a classroom without a teaching certificate.

Responsibilities include implementing plans, managing classrooms, and communicating with staff. The position is on-call, with a $135 daily rate and experience-based commensurate compensation.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Teaching license not required; must meet local/state non-certified substitute requirements.
• Experience with children or youth in school, camp, daycare, or similar settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement lesson plans left by the classroom teacher, or create engaging lessons.
• Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students.
• Establish and maintain effective classroom management and discipline procedures.
• Provide feedback to the regular teacher regarding student performance and behavior.
• Follow school policies, procedures, and routines with consistency and professionalism.
• Adapt teaching methods to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
• Uphold the mission and values of Southern Avenue Charter School in all interactions.
• Communicate clearly with students, staff, and administrators.
• Supervise students in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, or on field trips.
• Maintain confidentiality of student and school information.
