Springfield City Schools is seeking a Social Studies Teacher at Schaefer Middle School in Springfield, Ohio for the 2026-2027 school year. The district serves about 7,500 students and offers a 1:1 initiative and YouMedia Center to enhance learning.

Starting salary is $44,692.00 per year, with increases for experience and education. Contracted employees receive competitive benefits and professional development; a $1,600 annual bonus is awarded to the successful candidate.

Qualifications

• Current licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education.
• Possession of or in the process of applying for The Reading Endorsement or have passed Praxis 5203 (Teaching Reading: Elementary Education)
• Be flexible in your work schedule and be willing to attend/participate in professional development sessions
• Be willing to serve on teams
• Have the ability to relate to and teach students with diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrate enthusiasm in your role

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction to meet the needs of each student.
• Use multiple approaches to instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students
• Engage in active, hands-on creative and innovative approaches to help students learn how to improve their skills
• Identify and build on student strengths
• Embrace, support, and follow all District programming in academic, behavioral, and emotional support
• Facilitate ongoing assessments to determine starting points for instruction and monitor progress
• Evaluate and assess student work
• Maintain class records and report grades/progress at the end of the term
• Provide instruction to students with varying capabilities and SEL support
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, nurses, mental health specialists, and counselors to maintain a safe environment
• Engage in collaborative planning with colleagues and communicate with parents
• Maintain professionalism and model responsible leadership
• Manage all situations positively and professionally
• Perform other duties as assigned
