Job summary

Breed Middle School in Lynn, MA is seeking a Middle School General Science Teacher for a long-term substitute. The role emphasizes planning standards-based science lessons, data-driven instruction, and ongoing feedback to students.

The ideal candidate holds a valid MA DESE license for General Science 5-8 or Math/Science 5-8 and an SEI endorsement. Responsibilities include differentiating instruction, maintaining safe labs, assessing student progress, and collaborating with staff on curriculum

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Massachusetts DESE General Science 5-8 or Middle School Math/Science 5-8 licensure.
• SEI Endorsement is required.
• Additional content area licensure encouraged.
• Licensure requirements and validity are subject to change at the discretion of DESE.
• Urban experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Planning and implementing standards-based science units and tasks.
• Establishing and maintaining classroom and laboratory safety expectations.
• Providing effective learning experiences for students from diverse backgrounds.
• Designing and differentiating instruction to meet all learners, including ELL and SPED.
• Using formal and informal assessments to measure progress and adjust instruction.
• Creating a motivating, safe, supportive learning environment.
• Collaborating with colleagues on curriculum, lessons, and assessment design.
• Using technology to support student learning both in and out of the classroom.
