Job summary

Elevate Charter Schools seeks a mission-driven Middle School Science Teacher for Booker T. Washington Academy in New Haven, CT. You will teach grades 5–8 science, build a structured, high-expectation classroom, and collaborate with a team focused on student growth and equity.

You will engage in weekly PLCs, lead advisory duties, and contribute to school-wide initiatives that uplift students’ academic and character development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
• Valid teaching certification, or eligibility to obtain CT certification through reciprocity.
• 2–3 years of successful teaching experience in middle school preferred.
• Ability to build a safe, structured classroom with high expectations.
• Demonstrated commitment to educational equity and student growth.

Responsibilities

• Plan rigorous, standards-aligned science lessons for grades 5–8.
• Deliver high-quality science instruction with data-informed differentiation.
• Build affirming relationships to support student risk-taking and engagement.
• Incorporate culturally relevant practices connecting science to students’ experiences.
• Collaborate weekly with colleagues for continuous improvement and professional learning.
• Lead homeroom/advisory and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
