Job summary

Community Unit School District 300 is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This 1.0 FTE position requires Illinois licensure with Middle School Science endorsement and a strong foundation in college readiness skills and Common Core standards.

The successful candidate will create a positive classroom environment, implement diverse instructional methods, and collaborate with staff to meet instructional goals.

Qualifications

• Illinois licensure with Middle School Science endorsement is required.
• Knowledge of college readiness skills and Common Core standards preferred.
• Teamwork and collaboration are required; reflect and improve practice.
• Strong communication with students, parents, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Prepare for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
• Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior and report to the administrator information about student compliance with behavioral expectations.
• Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media suitable to the location and student needs.
• Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals, with emphasis on RTI and Common Core standards.
• Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Evaluate student progress on a regular basis.
• Maintain accurate records as required by law and district policies.
• Uphold school rules and board policy.
• Be available to students/parents outside instructional hours when required.
• Attend meetings and collaborate on instructional goals and materials.
• Support co-curricular activities as assigned.
• Foster open communication with students and parents about academic and behavioral progress.
