Responsibilities

• Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
• Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
• Guides learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media suited to students' needs and location.
• Strives to implement the district’s philosophy and objectives.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports as required.
• Diagnoses learning abilities and seeks district specialist assistance as needed.
• Takes precautions to protect students and materials.
• Maintains accurate records as required by policy and regulation.
• Supports policies on student life and conducts fair classroom management.
• Makes provisions to be available to students and parents outside instructional hours.
• Plans and supervises assignments for aides/volunteers and evaluates their performance.
• Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
• Attends staff meetings and may serve on committees.
• Supports CORE Literacy initiative and WOW program.
• Performs other related duties as requested.
