Qualifications

• Minimum of a Master’s Degree and earned a Pupil Personnel or Postgraduate Professional License.
• 1 year successful, full-time experience as an administrator in the area or at the level supervised.
• Must hold a Virginia teaching certificate and endorsed in Admin & Supervision PreK-12; reciprocal out-of-state certification allowed with comparable endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, evaluates and provides instructional direction to all staff to implement the total curriculum for students.
• Organizes the school to provide optimum learning experiences in curricular and extracurricular programs.
• Assigns duties to assistant principals and key personnel to maintain day-to-day operations.
• Manages funds to support school programs and directs in-service for staff development.
• Provides public relations and communications within the school and community.
• Selects and assigns personnel to ensure best use of experience and skills.
• Evaluates staff to maintain competence and achieve educational goals.
• Coordinates central office support for school programs and services.
• Maintains school discipline and oversees athletic and extracurricular activities.
• Oversees building and grounds operations and maintenance.
• Drives continuous improvement planning and budgeting with the school advisory council.
• Coordinates with central office staff to support local programs.
• Implements division-wide curriculum action plans at the local level.
