Qualifications

• Licensure: Valid Massachusetts DESE License in Physical Education (PreK–8 or 5–12) or Health/Family and Consumer Sciences, with SEI Endorsement.
• Educational Knowledge: Deep knowledge of organizing a successful PE/health program per MA frameworks.
• Theoretical Grounding: Understanding of development, social justice, learning theories, multiculturalism, and wellness frameworks.
• Barrier Reduction: Understand barriers to student learning and apply decision‑making models to address them.
• Compliance: Requires CORI and fingerprint‑based background check compliance.

Responsibilities

• Provide health and physical education that is medically accurate and developmentally appropriate, aligned with national standards and MA frameworks.
• Implement a culturally inclusive curriculum and foster a safe, supportive learning environment.
• Use diverse instructional methods to engage learners and promote health literacy.
• Deliver lessons that build attitudes, knowledge, and decision‑making for healthy lifestyles and relationships.
• Coordinate safety checks on equipment and spaces and collaborate with staff and families.
• Attend department meetings, curriculum work, and professional development.
