Job summary

Congressional School seeks a Long Term Substitute English Teacher starting in February of 2027 for the remainder of the 2026-2027 academic year. The Long Term Substitute English Teacher is responsible for providing an effective learning environment through planning, organizing, developing, and assessing a comprehensive instructional program for students in 7th and 8th grade.

The English Teacher is knowledgeable about the cognitive and social-emotional development of students in this age group

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Education or English preferred.
Minimum 2 years' experience teaching Middle School English, preferably in an independent school.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in child development and educational practices.
Strong initiative and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
An ability to work in a joyful, collegial and collaborative environment.
A sense of humor, warm personality, and growth mindset.

Responsibilities
