Job summary

The Howard County Public School System is seeking a Middle School English Language Arts Teacher (Grades 6-8) to design and deliver engaging instruction aligned with the HCPSS curriculum, differentiate for diverse learners, and foster a safe, supportive learning environment.

Under the supervision of the principal, the teacher will plan lessons, assess progress, collaborate with colleagues, communicate with families, and participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an applicable field of education.
• Meets the Maryland State Department of Education licensure requirements for Secondary English Language Arts.
• Three years of teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement instructional programs aligned to HCPSS goals.
• Prepare and document lesson plans based on the HCPSS curriculum.
• Create a classroom environment supportive of student engagement and growth.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs and abilities.
• Provide timely feedback to families and students and communicate progress.
• Collaborate with administrators, colleagues, and families to support student achievement.
