Job summary

Fort Bend ISD is seeking a Professional School Counselor for a middle school to develop and implement a Comprehensive Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program. The role includes providing counseling services to help students maximize educational experiences and plan for college and career readiness.

The counselor will deliver guidance lessons, assist with crises, collaborate with teachers and families, and maintain accurate records to support student growth and district goals.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling or related field.
• Texas School Counselor Certification or Eligible for Texas Certification (Texas Certification preferred)
• Minimum of 2 years classroom teaching experience and/or certified school counselor experience preferred
• Demonstrate integrity and ethics
• Display proficient levels of technology applications
• Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities
• Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings
• Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor
• Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders
• Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met
• Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication

Responsibilities

• Provide classroom guidance lessons aligned with TEC, ASCA and district expectations; maintain a monthly calendar of guidance activities.
• Develop and implement college and career readiness activities including SchooLinks scope and sequence and Career Days/Fairs.
• Collaborate with teachers to develop behavioral interventions and deliver them in the classroom; support students in crisis.
• Counsel students individually or in groups regarding concerns, transitions, and personal development; participate in crisis intervention when needed.
• Consult with teachers, parents, administrators, school psychologists, diagnosticians, nurses, and other professionals; identify and disseminate community resources.
• Initiate and/or assist staff in referrals to child protective services and respond to information requests.
