Job summary

PIH Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform a variety of patient-specific duties under supervision, including processing referrals and assisting in multiple departments. The role may require travel between facilities and excelling in a fast-paced clinic environment.

Ideal candidates will hold a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of an accredited MA program, and MA experience. Bilingual Spanish helps, and California Driver’s license may be needed for float pools.

Qualifications

• Formal training evidenced by a high school diploma or equivalent and graduation certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Minimum six (6) months of front and back medical office experience required.
• Two (2) years of front and back medical office experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License if hiring into Medical Assistant Float Pool.
• Ability to maintain composure in fast-paced environments with strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of patient-specific tasks under supervision.
• Float between departments and travel as needed.
• Process outside referrals including HMO and PPO and notify concerned parties of outcomes.
• Utilize electronic health record (EHR) and other record-keeping systems accurately.
• Handle cash transactions and basic math within clinic workflows.
