Job summary

The Christ Hospital Health Network is seeking a Medical Assistant to support physician-directed patient care in a busy clinic. You will assist with examinations, document vital signs, update medical histories, and ensure accurate EMR entries.

You will also prepare charts, handle medication refills, schedule appointments, and perform basic testing (EKG, phlebotomy) while maintaining a safe, confidential environment and supporting care quality. BLS certification is required.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate Degree and/or Certified/Registered MA preferred.
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program or previous Medical Assisting experience required.
• 2 to 5 years MA or other relevant experience preferred; Practice in different care settings (e.g., Primary care, Specialty).
• Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, EMR and scheduling systems) required.
• Strong verbal and social skills to facilitate working respectfully with patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers, and drug reps.

Responsibilities

• Maintains patient flow during clinic hours.
• Documents review of systems; measures vital signs; updates medical history and medication lists at each visit.
• Records patient information in the EMR.
• May assist in training of new employees.
• Prepares patient charts in EMR for visits by scanning, abstracting, and reviewing to ensure all results and records are in the chart.
• Obtains information and reviews outside information as needed; may act as Super User for EMR.
• Refills medications and pre-authorizes medications including communication with patient, pharmacy, or insurance as needed.
• Maintains recording of patient samples and disposes expired medications.
• Prepares treatment rooms, orders medical supplies, and completes patient assistance paperwork as needed.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments, checks in/out patients, and completes pre-certifications for prescriptions, procedures, and surgeries.
• Operates EKG, cardiac monitors, and other equipment for routine diagnostic tests; phlebotomy and cast removal as assigned.
• Maintains a safe, confidential, compliant work environment and supports quality measures.
