Job summary

Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City is seeking an as-needed Lower School Substitute Teacher to provide effective classroom instruction, student support, and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher.

The role requires the ability to engage elementary students, foster a positive learning environment, and maintain professional communication with colleagues and families. This is a part-time, hourly position reporting to the Assistant Head of Lower School.

Qualifications

• Background check is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to supervise student activities and maintain a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Have excellent interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and an interest in engaging in the school community while advocating for students and collaborating with faculty and staff.
• Be able to apply a variety of instructional practices that relate to the unique needs of this age group.
• Have the ability and desire to support and promote the mission statement and values of the school.
• Work successfully with students and colleagues from a range of cultural backgrounds and belief systems.
• Have strong classroom management to monitor individuals and groups of students in a classroom.
• Provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Other duties as assigned.
