Job summary

The Consortium of Jewish Day Schools is seeking a passionate Lower School General Studies Teacher for a full-time role. The successful candidate will deliver developmentally appropriate instruction and align with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.

They will design comprehensive lesson plans, differentiate instruction, and collaborate with a team of educators to support student growth. Strong communication with families and leadership is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field required or strongly preferred.
• New York State teaching certification appropriate to the grade level strongly preferred/required.
• Experience teaching in a Lower School or elementary setting.
• Knowledge of elementary curriculum development and instructional practices.
• Familiarity with the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging instruction across core Lower School subjects.
• Develop and maintain lesson plans, units, and curriculum materials.
• Ensure alignment with NYS Next Generation Learning Standards and school expectations.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs.
• Create an inclusive, stimulating classroom environment that fosters curiosity and collaboration.
• Assess student learning and use data to guide instruction.
• Communicate student progress to families and leadership.
• Maintain curriculum documentation, pacing guides, and resources.
• Collaborate with colleagues to ensure continuity across the Lower School.
• Participate in curriculum development and evaluation initiatives.
• Incorporate varied instructional strategies and age-appropriate resources.
