Burr & Forman LLP is seeking a litigation paralegal for our Jackson, MS office. This role requires handling document preparation, case management, and research, with familiarity in state and federal procedures.

You will draft motions and pleadings, file with courts and agencies, manage discovery, and support trial preparation with a variety of legal software. The ideal candidate has a paralegal credential and 2+ years of litigation experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, paralegal degree or certification or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of litigation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedures and court procedures; electronic filing.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, ShareFile; document management software.
• Knowledge of e-discovery: OnCue required; Relativity helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex paralegal duties from inception through discovery and verdict.
• Draft and edit motions, briefs, pleadings, notices, and summaries.
• Prepare and file briefs and pleadings in state and federal court and agencies.
• Prepare discovery requests/responses and summarize deposition transcripts.
• Prepare trial exhibits, subpoenas, and assist with trial prep.
• Proofread and cite check briefs and documents.
• Create complex document databases.
• Prepare PowerPoint presentations.
• Plan and schedule conferences, depositions, and meetings.
• Attend depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Conduct legal research using libraries, PACER, SJIS, LEXIS, Westlaw, etc.
• Maintain calendars for court deadlines and appearances.
• Respond to information inquiries.
