Job summary

MAEF Public Charter Schools in Mobile, Alabama, is hiring a Classroom Teacher for History. The 9-month, 187-day contract reports to the Principal and includes a starting salary of $47,600 with additional compensation based on experience and degree level.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certification for middle/high school subjects or an equivalent license, with a strong commitment to student achievement and a collaborative approach to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university
• Valid teaching certification in middle and high school ELA, math, science, and special education; or valid license required for the employment content area
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject matter and/or direct subject‑area teaching experience

Responsibilities

• Develop lesson plans that align with state standards and network standards
• Coordinate lesson plans with other teachers to reinforce interdisciplinary topics
• Provide direct and indirect instruction to students
• Plan long- and short-term instruction addressing individual student needs
• Assess student progress with formative assessments
• Create an inviting, innovative learning environment
• Report to the Principal and accept feedback from staff
• Advise students on academics and behavior progress
