Qualifications

• Highly qualified with required competency in the content area.
• Appropriate content/ program area educator license (Foreign Language) and grade level (5-12) licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
• Bachelor’s Degree with appropriate license; or Master’s Degree with appropriate content area license preferred and/or expected within 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
• Plans a program of study that meets students' needs, interests, and abilities.
• Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Guides learning toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear lesson objectives.
• Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Employs varied instructional techniques and media.
• Implements the district's philosophy and performance expectations in teaching.
• Assesses student progress and communicates with parents as needed.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
• Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district specialist support as needed.
• Protects students, equipment, and facilities; follows code of conduct.
• Plans and supervises assignments for paraprofessionals and writes evaluations.
• Engages in ongoing professional growth and participates in district evaluation processes.
