Responsibilities

• Plans and develops course of study according to curriculum guidelines and state requirements.
• Develops and presents lesson plans using varied techniques (lectures, projects, multimedia, field trips).
• Prepares assignments and tests; monitors, assists, corrects, and grades student performance.
• Conducts standardized tests in accordance with district policies and law.
• Maintains classroom order and administers discipline when necessary to achieve proper behavior.
• Supervises classroom aides and coordinates with staff.
• Counsels students when academic difficulties or behavioral problems arise.
• Keeps records of academic performance, attendance and progress; reports to parents; conducts conferences.
• Reports suspected child abuse according to state law.
• Collaborates with guidance staff on course selection and interventions.
