Job summary

Bernalillo Public Schools seeks a dedicated Secondary Band Teacher for grades 9–12 who will provide student-centered instruction in vocal or instrumental music, align with New Mexico standards, and mentor students toward college and career readiness.

The teacher will organize rehearsals and performances, engage families, participate in after-school activities, and collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the music program while fostering inclusive, high-expectation learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in music or related field.
• Valid NM Teaching License with Music endorsement or eligibility.
• Ability to pass employment verification and background check.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, standards-based music instruction aligned to NM standards.
• Organize, rehearse, and direct school choirs, bands, orchestras, and performances.
• Collaborate with families and colleagues to support student success.
• Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.

Education

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Valid New Mexico Public Education Department Teaching License with appropriate Music endorsement (or eligibility)
