Job summary

Gateway Region YMCA in Illinois is seeking a part-time aerobic fitness instructor to lead classes, demonstrate proper technique and tailor exercises for participants of varying abilities. You will monitor safety, set up equipment, and encourage progression while maintaining a welcoming, inclusive environment.

Requires 18+ years, a high school diploma, 1+ year experience, and a current NCCA-certified group exercise certification.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1+ years’ experience as a class participant, leader, instructor, or equivalent.
• Current group exercise certification accredited by NCCA required.

Responsibilities

• Lead aerobic fitness classes and demonstrate safe, effective technique.
• Modify exercises for participants with limitations or pregnancy.
• Assess participants and guide progression through class levels.
• Set up equipment and maintain area cleanliness; ensure safe flooring and environment.
