Job summary

The Town of Erie is seeking a Primary Group Fitness Instructor for the Erie Community Center. Candidates should hold general group fitness certifications (ACE, NASM, AFFA) and be capable of teaching diverse participants with varying fitness levels.

The role emphasizes safe, effective classes, equipment setup, and ongoing program development. Qualified applicants may have CPR/AED/First Aid or be able to obtain them within the stated timelines.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of experience teaching group fitness preferred.
• One nationally accredited group fitness certification (NASM, ACE, AFFA) or specialized fitness certification.
• CPR, AED and First Aid within three months of hire or ability to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Instruct or lead fitness programs and classes.
• Provide a safe, effective and supportive learning environment for diverse participants.
• Set up and take down required program equipment including exercise and audio equipment.
• Plan class curriculum and conduct instruction in areas of expertise.
• Maintain attendance records and respond to participant inquiries.
• Maintain communication with staff and attend trainings.
