Job summary

Ymca Of Central Maryland, Inc. is seeking a friendly Group Exercise Instructor to deliver engaging, high-quality group classes and create a welcoming atmosphere for all members and guests. You will lead safe, fun workouts and promote wellness while maintaining equipment and space readiness.

Responsibilities include teaching formats with certification, communicating effectively, building relationships, and complying with Y policies. Flexible schedule and weekend availability preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Proficient communicator (oral and written).
• Prefer fitness and/or group exercise experiences.
• Must hold a nationally recognized group exercise certification (e.g. ACE, ACSM, AFAA, NETA, AEA).
• Proficient computer skills.
• Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification (or within 30 days of hire).
• Flexible schedule including days, nights and weekends.
• Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before start.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality, appropriately challenging, and fun group exercise classes.
• Engage with members, guests, and participants to foster a welcoming environment.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness of equipment and space; enforce policies.
• Record class size and maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
• Lead by example and promote the YMCA four core values: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
