Job summary

Automatic Data Processing, Inc. is seeking a Group Exercise Instructor for the Part Time position at the Student Wellness and Recreation Center in Long Beach, CA. You will teach group fitness classes and ensure safety and proper technique for participants.

Must hold current certifications (ACSM/NSCA/ACE/AFAA/NASM or equivalent) and CPR/First Aid/AED or obtain within 30 days. Availability to teach at least two 1-hour classes weekly is required.

Qualifications

• Background in fitness, health, recreation, or related field and/or experience leading group exercise classes.
• Experience promoting safe exercise techniques, modifying workouts, and engaging diverse participants.
• Current certifications in ACSM, NSCA, ACE, AFAA, NASM or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Safely lead group fitness classes including warm up, stretching, activity, and cool down.
• Welcome participants to class, conduct participant counts and other administrative tasks related to the program.
• Ensure the safety of class participants through performing heart rate assessments, demonstrating safe and correct form, modifying intensity levels.
• Perform setup and takedown for classes as needed.
• Maintain all certifications during length of employment.
• Ensure professional and timely written and oral communication with staff, supervisors, and administrative staff.
• Respond to injuries and assist in immediate first aid and proper emergency procedures.
• Model, promote, and consistently enforce policies for the Student Recreation and Wellness Center.
• Attend staff meetings and training.
• Other duties as assigned, reasonably within the scope of the job.
