Job summary

Springside Chestnut Hill Academy seeks a Floating Assistant Teacher to support Lead Teachers in early childhood classrooms and the aftercare program. You will help implement daily activities, prepare materials, and maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.

The role requires a CDA and two years of childcare experience; a bachelor’s degree in education is preferred. Hours are 10:00am–6:00pm, with start August 28, 2026, at SCH in Philadelphia.

Qualifications

• CDA and two years of experience in childcare or a classroom; bachelor’s degree in education preferred.
• Ability to support curriculum and assessments and utilize teaching methodologies.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills across diverse communities.
• Familiarity with early childhood curriculum, materials, and equipment.
• Ability to facilitate activities promoting healthy growth.
• Knowledge of safety procedures and maintaining a safe classroom.

Responsibilities

• Assist with teaching and daily activities under supervision.
• Plan and prepare aftercare activities for children.
• Coordinate daily activities and supervise aides when needed.
• Assist with administering assessments and recording results.
• Prepare materials and optimize the classroom environment as directed.
• Support classroom routines including meals, snack, and recess.
• Maintain a welcoming, disciplined, and organized learning space.
• Communicate student progress with lead teacher and parents.
